ABOUT

There’s something about fresh pineapple juice that makes drinking bourbon on a hot summer night not only appropriate, but absolutely necessary - especially when combined with blanco vermouth and bitters.

DETAILS

The Algonquin was built in 1902 as a residential hotel in Midtown Manhattan that quickly became the favorite haunt amongst actors, writers (namely the famed Vicious Circle) and journalists. With a crowd like this, your namesake cocktail needed to be exotic (fresh pineapple juice, amirite?) and edgy (bitters every time). And so, a cocktail star was born, glowing under the blue lights legendary actor John Barrymore convinced manager-turned-owner Frank Case to use in order to make one appear more attractive. Total beast move, just like shaking one of these up at your next soiree.
