TI Punch

ABOUT

While “Ti” is the abbreviated Creole word for “petite,” don’t let this small sipper fool you. The rum, lime, sugar and water packs a refreshing wallop, and it ain't for the weak.

DETAILS

Ti Punch might be the lesser known of the rum cocktails, but we suggest you get to know it. As the official drink of the Caribbean French-speaking islands (namely Martinique and Guadeloupe) it was originally a favorite of sugarcane workers to give them a, err...boost during the long, hot days. We suppose the strong libation made the working conditions a tad more...bearable.Press fast forward, our tiny dancer uses clairin, an artisanal spirit distilled from pure sugarcane juice. Think of it as the Carib French answer to a Caipirinha. So if you didn't know, now you know.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. MUDDLE quartered lime with sugar in a frosted rocks glass

  2. ADD clairin and water

  3. ADD ice

  4. STIR 15-20 seconds to incorporate ingredients
